Homage to Ma Ma

Eva Savard, Lucille Proulx's mother, a woman typical of the Victorian era, was a milliner by trade. It is from her that the seeds of artistic creativity were planted. As in her everyday life, her mother taught her basic art concepts of form, line, color, texture, composition, and aesthetics.

These took root through a variety of everyday creative activities in the form of coloring books, wax crayons, and her skills in embroidery, knitting, sewing, cooking, and cake decoration.

On the 1st of August 2026, Eva Savard would have been 138 years old if she were still around. On this special occasion, Lucille would like to pay homage to her mother by creating an artwork using pieces of embroidery made by her own mother. In this way, their creativity is celebrated.
